A minor point but this reads as if Suzie Q was a CCR original when it was actually another classic rock 'n' roll cover of a song by Louisiana's Dale Hawkins. It had James Burton on guitar who I don't think ever rocked as hard again.

To call Bayou Country CCR's "underestimated, least discussed collection" is off the mark. Any album that includes both "Proud Mary" and "Born on the Bayou" is exempt from such adjectives. I would nominate Pendulum as the band's underestimated masterpiece. Mardi Gras is the least discussed record; it didn't even warrant a reissue with the rest of the band's catalog in 2008. Ouch. But that expository is not to distract from the classic package that is Bayou Country. "Penthouse Pauper" manages to be tough and hilarious. The propulsive "Bootleg" stands as one of Fogerty's strongest album cuts.

Penthouse Pauper has long been one of my all time favorite Creedence tracks, if nothing else than for that piercing Cipollina-esque lead guitar! This has remained my most played of their records, love the long electric boogies that paint each side.
