I picked up this record at a record show yesterday. I was looking for some Don Covay and stumbled across this gem. Brilliant record. While Covay had a handful of great soul hits as well as penning some amazing r&b and soul songs, he's sadly underrated for such an amazing talent.

Sunday, January 10, 2010//21,28 hours Netherlands time.

I've both Atlantic Albums of Don Covay
By the Way, I'm self a soul/blues minded.

Don Covay is a soul singer. But, as most black rhytm and blues singers from the USA, they can sing soul and blues. And of course GOSPEL in a church and Jazz. See to Etta James; she sings soul, blues en Jazz.

Back to Don Covay.
In the 1980 I buy a French pressing LP album in Brussel, during a Record Collection.

5 years ago, I let it come over from the USA
the original USA pressing CD.

Fantastic.

I myself find that the CD is better tha the other two Atlantic CD/LP,
See Saw and Mercy.

Of course there are more good Soul singers as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett etc. And many good Blues singers as Otis Rush, Luther Allison etc.

I'm young(ish) so I only recently discovered See-Saw and Mercy but since hearing them I've been hooked on Don Covay. What a great find this post is. Like you said, a totally different style but just as good. Thanks.
