I once asked a friend "what's the best JJW record?." He said it was viva terilingua, which i loved for a long time. Then i heard Driftin' Way of Life, and i realized i had been done wrong....best. record. ever. When that friend finally asks me what the best Dylan record is, I'm gonna tell him "street legal...."

JJW was born Ron Colby in Oswego, NY...an old friend of mine went to High School with him...also know for being Keith Sykes mentor
I have too much respect for the man...I LIVED a form of Mr Bojangles when I worked in the Cole Brothers circus in 1973 and used the song there after to bookend my own tales of travel. I'll always love him...I also am fond of his former Circus Maximus partner Gary White's songs Nobodys and Long Long Time most notably by Linda Ronsadt but I prefer JJW version of Nobodys with David Bromberg on guitar (he also did a great version later on)
I always love "Thw Wind" by Circus Maxinmus too great Psych-folk ... give it up for Paul Seibel, too...She Made Me Lose My Blues!

[...] Brendan and Jason describe The Rising Storm as “an mp3 blog about fine forgotten albums.” An example? How about Jerry Jeff Walker’s Driftin’ Way of Life? Brendan’s affectionate treatment of this classic is just right. Go read it. [...]

I grew up on JJW's 'Viva Terlingua' album and still think it's one of the best albums in the world. I honestly can't say I've listened to much else by JJW, but I know every second of that record. Check it out!

Not specific to this post, I just wanted to a) thank you for your continued support of Fusion 45 through your blogroll and b) compliment you on your site design: it's simple but very well done. I love the animated picture at the top. Kudos. Music Junkie.
