I have to say that the best album that PH put out was Grand Hotel. Dont get me wrong Salty Dog is a masterpiece but overall one must listen to the Grand Hotel if you want to know how great they are.

Definitely the best in a long line of great albums by Procol Harum. As you said, it’s the sheer variety on this one that makes it so successful, especially as the group really brings these diverse ideas together in a smooth and logical way. Lastly, I do believe the song is “The Milk of Human Kindness”, and not “The Hand…”. Still, a really helpful review.

Great album by an under-appreciated band. Thanks for posting! This and “Home,” (their next release after Salty Dog), are the best two they did, in my opinion.
