I remembered the band I was originally thinking of: <a href="http://groovytunesday.com/descriptions/music/mortimer.html" rel="nofollow">Mortimer</a> from Hyde Park, NY. The Goodtimes. Haven’t heard of them yet, according to this site they were aka the Argoes.

I've always wanted to hear this one and the other big area band. Can't remember the name. Actually, the Hudson Valley has it's fair share of rock history... thinking about places like Woodstock & Bearsville.
